Progress
- Sensitization of current and future policymakers, economic actors, local associations, central administration, and local authorities at various levels through courses in prestigious schools, awareness kits, and training programs. The French acceleration strategy has led to greater coherence of action and the pooling of best practices. A "stakeholder forum" was held to co-produce the 2023 report on the French national strategy.
- Strengthened multilateral mobilization at the European level, including the upcoming adoption of binding legislative instruments on the duty of diligence of companies to ban products derived from forced labour. Also, fostered international links with Pathfinder Countries in the Alliance 8.7 and participating in thematic groups of the Alliance 8.7, along with financial support for projects aimed at achieving SDG 8.7.
- Strong engagement in multilateral institutions such as the ILO, G7, and G20 to work towards a binding legal instrument concerning global supply chains. The explicit mention of the Alliance 8.7 in the G7 Labour-Employment Ministerial Declaration is one of the concrete results of the commitment of France and the G7 members to the Alliance.
- The appointment of a former minister as the new Secretary-General of MIPROF (Interministerial Mission for the Protection of Women against Violence and the Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings) is seen as a major asset to advance France's proactive policy in combating trafficking and exploitation of human beings.
